The sculpture series “Function as Definition” consists of fragile raw clay forms. They recall utilitarian objects but lack functionality: holes, fractures, and illogical joints create a sense of recognition and dissonance. Some of them broke during daily life at home, where they were shaped. This work is a practice of refusing stability and usefulness — a reflection on motherhood, migration, and vulnerability as states that cannot be measured by “function,” but which define identity and existence.
