The fire is born from the breath of the wind.
The fire springs from the strike of lightning.
A vortex of power fills everything with the breath of the storm.
The Border-Walker has arrived — between life and death,
between what has been and what is yet to be born.
Oyá! Oyá... Oyá!
She dances, and her skirts blaze like flames
that do not burn but purify.
She breathes the storm, tearing the veil between worlds,
and the air becomes a prayer.
Where she passes, everything changes.
The wind carries her name.
(Oyá, also called Yansá, is the Orisha of wind, lightning, and transformation.
Her dance embodies the storm, change, and the power of movement.
Circular, rapid turns summon the whirlwind of the wind,
while sudden shifts in direction symbolize the strike of lightning.
The whip or bundle of black feathers represents the power of the wind,
which purifies, protects, and opens the borders between worlds.)
